Tan leather that’s soft on the touch. The smell of rich mahogany as you run your fingers across the steering wheel, and the way the sunlight reflects off the hood in the most, subtle way. This might be how you’d describe the first time you sat in a 1974 Holden Kingswood, but not Boot Action. The first time they were in a Kingswood was in the back seat, being conceived.
Sharing a mutual affinity for counter culture, Melbourne lads Jake Waters & Luke Taylor met in a subset of the underground scene, a place called Club Kitchen. The after hours rave represented everything the boys loved in music; House grooves, jazz throwbacks, 808’s and heartbreaks, and with a backdrop of sweat drenched pots & pans, they struck up a close relationship, and begun their music journey.
Throwing a few bootlegs into the blogosphere, and gigging anywhere that would take them, the boys hit their stride with the release of their debut EP ‘Bosun’. The grimy trumpet laden house jam pricked the ears of tastemakers RUFUS, and was eventually signed to Sweat It Out in early 2014. It enjoyed regular plays on triple J, along with the B side ‘In The Mood’.
